Didn't think it'd take so long
To turn my tears into another song
But half a year has wheeled along

I'm pretty proficient in the alchemy
Of changing the pain inside of me

I write a set of rhyming lines

This grief it seems is bottomless
My tears have soaked my cotton dress
And every day I've gotten less
Hopeful of it ending

The dress I'm sure will be just fine
But after all this dreary time
Seems it's not the cloth but what's inside
That's needful of some mending

So, thread and needle in my hand
I've sewn on my shadow like Peter Pan
But is that even something that I can
Go about befriending?
